Monthelie 1er Cru 'Sur la Velle' 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Sextant, in the Burgundy region in France. This red wine is made with Pinot Noir grapes, with grapes sourced from Domaine De Suremain in Monthelie.

Technical info of  Monthelie 1er Cru 'Sur la Velle' 2023

Vines (aged between 30 and 80 years old), located at the top of hillsides, on Bathonean limestone soil composed of marl (dark brown earth), facing S-SE. Vinification and aging: 60% destemmed grapes, 15 to 20 days of vatting in open conical wooden vats. Aged for 1 year in barrels.

Who is Sextant in Burgundy?

Juilien Atlaber started working for Domain Derain, as legend Dominque Derain's right hand man. The two formed a strong friendship, and over the years Julien started to release his own Negoce wines under the name Sextant. Dominque Derain decided to retire, and Julien Altaber now runs the domaine with his wife and partner Carole Schwab. They run both Sextant and Domaine Derain from the same cellar in Saint-Aubin.
