Kedron by Ab Initio is a natural wine featuring a blend of Grenache and Syrah, aged for a year in Amphora. The grapes here are actually taken from Rhone's Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This wine features a little cool refuction, and a great energy alongside a sandy tannic structure that will make you crave some grilled meats to go along with it. Very impressive.

Ab Initio is a Loire wine project involving winemaker Emmanuel Roblin as well as Fred and Claire Niger from esteemed Domaine de l’Ecu.

Bottles are limited in quantity and despite being new and relatively unknown there is strong interest from winelovers.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

Ab Initio Emmanuel Roblin

NATURAL WINES BY AB INITIO

Ab Initio is the project of Emmanuel 'Manu' Roblin, who trained at the natural wine school in Amboise and worked as cellar master at Domaine de l'Ecu in Muscadet. Fred and Claire Niger of l'Ecu are partners in the project, and Manu works as a tenant in their cellar, sharing its equipment. The first vintage was 2020. Grapes come from l'Ecu's vineyards and like-minded partner growers, with Manu involved in pruning and harvest, plus Grenache and Syrah from Domaine Terre Forte near Avignon.

Most of the wines are made and aged in amphora, with native yeasts, which rounds off the tannins and adds depth. The range covers Melon de Bourgogne in Ekko, Folle Blanche in Phillia, Chardonnay in Logos and Gamay in Kairos, while Illico and Kedron bring the Grenache and Syrah. Quantities are small, so grab them when you see them.
