Considered by some as the Nebbiolo of the South, Nerello Mascalese is a powerful red grape that is perfect for the terroir of Mount Etna in Sicily, where it is found. The dominant grape in the area, it usually has long aging potential and when made well with some time to rest, it gives off wonderful bursts of cherry, leather, cinnamon, and herbaceous touches.
