Piripi Xarello is a natural wine crafted by Entre Vinyes, in the Catalonia region in Spain. This lightly macrerated, mild orange wine is made with Xarel-lo grapes, of which is a blend of 60% direct-pressed Xarel-lo aged in stainless steel with 40% Xarel-lo that underwent two months of skin fermentation (the orange component).
So, kindof a blend that is orange mixed with white.
Production details of Piripi Xarello: Piripi Xarello is made by Maria Barrena and Pep Tort Montserrat at Entre Vinyes ("Between Vineyards") in Penedès, Catalonia. The two converted a chicken coop and pigsty into the winery, working with old 1935 vines that used to supply a cooperative. The wine is 60% direct-pressed Xarel-lo aged in stainless steel blended with 40% Xarel-lo given two months of skin fermentation. The result is a mild orange-meets-white blend. Made under permaculture and a lunar-calendar approach.
Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Piripi Xarello by Entre Vinyes, but we hear it has notes of green apple, lemon zest, herbs and a soft mineral skin-contact lift.
