NATURAL WINES BY HUMUS
Humus is the label of Rodrigo Filipe, a former civil engineer who switched to winemaking in the early 2000s at Quinta do Paço, his family's farm in Alvorninha, near Óbidos in Portugal's Lisboa region. The property covers about 20 hectares, roughly 10 of them under vine, between the Atlantic and the Serra dos Candeeiros at around 150 to 200 metres. Cool sea breezes mean the grapes ripen slowly and keep their acidity.
Rodrigo works mainly with Portuguese grapes: Arinto, Fernão Pires, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca and Castelão, plus some Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. His range runs from whites, rosés and reds to skin-contact whites like the Curtimenta and a line of sparkling pet-nats. The wines are made with no added sulphur. We have Flui, a light sparkling white pet-nat from the Óbidos vineyards.
