Vulcanico Rosso 2024 is a natural wine crafted by Raspini Winery, in the Baden region in Germany. This red wine is made with Pinot Noir grapes which are grown on Volcanic soils. The Kaiserstuhl is a small, low mountain range of hills rising out of the Upper Rhine Plain that was formed by a stratovolcano roughly 16 million years ago, of which the Raspini vines are grown.
Here with this Vulcanico Rosso, we hear it shows the fruitier side of Pinot Noir and is harvested slightly later than usual to give more depth. We hear it featurss ripe red berries, dark cherry and a hint of cacao. Warm, smooth and precise, with enough depth while still staying easy to drink is what we've been told
Pinot Noir from southwest-facing volcanic sites in Kaiserstuhl. The grapes are harvested slightly overripe and fermented in open oak vats for around two weeks with daily punch-downs. The wine is pressed shortly before the end of fermentation, then aged for eight months in oak barrels.
