Ofen 2019 is a rarer natural wine crafted by Franz Weninger, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This red wine is made with Blaufränkisch grapes, of which Frank Weninger says are surrounded by mulberry trees from the 18th century, on a south-facing property is 340 m above sea level.

It is located in Ritzing, making it the westernmost vineyard in Central Burgenland. In terms of climate, it is our coolest location, but the soil and southern orientation give it warmth. Lime used to be burned here. Hence the high pH in the soil.

Franz Weninger says this is a wine that challenges the palate, stimulating and youthful. Fine and light berry fruit. The tannins of the Blaufränkisch become finer. They weave very closely with the acidity, creating a very vibrant, almost electrifying finish. This combination leads to a grip on the palate reminiscent of lime dust..

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.
