Rkatsiteli
Rkatsiteli is a white wine grape that is widely grown in Georgia, where it is considered the most widely planted grape variety. Rkatsiteli is also grown in other Eastern countries such as Russia and Ukraine.
This grape is known for producing wines with a unique and distinct flavor profile. Rkatsiteli wines are typically dry and crisp, with high acidity and a medium body. They often exhibit flavors of green apple, citrus, and white flowers, with some herbal and mineral notes. The wines can be quite aromatic and have a refreshing and zesty character. However, when made with Skin-Contact Maceration, the Rkatsiteli grape can blossom into something else entirely and as such, it is a favourite for Georgian Orange Wines (although there is also some political reasoning behind this too, as virtually all but a handful of Georgian grape varietals were forbidden during Communist rule)
