Roca Viva Wines was born as a dream cherished by David Raya Moreno, a Sommelier with extensive experience in various establishments, moved by the illusion of recovering and regenerating exceptional vineyards in the beautiful land of Andalusia.

In 2021, on this winemaking journey committed to not using any added Sulphites and expressing the best of the Andalusia terroir, David found company in Peter Freislederer, a collaborator who shares the vision and joins the project to bring the winery to life.

The pair work with local growers in the regions of Granada, Córdoba, Málaga and Cádiz, often adapting the growers own ways of farming for more sustainable practices to focus on quality over quantity. Many of the vines are farmed on a diverse range of soils including Schist, Quartz, Sand, Marl and chalky Albariza. Some vines are 100m to the sea and others are over 100 years old!

So we put together three different wines for you to discover the wines for yourself:

Pneuma 2021

This white wine with an amber colour is made with Jaén Blanco and Vigiriega grapes. Only 645 bottles produced. No added sulphites.

Woah! Amazing and super interesting wine. A tiny bit of Residual Sugar and a little refermentation fizz. Complex, structured, unique and VERY special. Whilst there is some R.S, it is not sweet and instead beautiful notes of caramel, walnut baked apricot and salt shine through. Truly a beautiful wine. Carafe for best results

4 Some 2021

This red wine is made with Tempranillo, as well as white grapes Muscat of Alexandria,Pedro Ximenez, and Palomino grapes.

This introduction into the world of Roca Viva with 4some really is not an entry level wine, despite being more fresh and fun than their more serious wines, but daaaaamn is it good! It's a blend of both red and white grapes, and the grapes are used from each of their trusted growers in the area, so this is why the name is 4 Some.

Expect mineralic hits for a red, with an almost iron like quality popping besides black cherries, dark chocolate, smoke and soft vegetal touches with a peppery, tingly tannic mouthfeel. A VERY cool wine at a great pricepoint!

Las Cañas 2021

This orange wine is made with Muscat of Alexandria grapes

This wine is an excellent showcase for the Muscat of Alexandria grape, also known in Italy as Zibibbo. It's of course got that aromatic quality you look for in the grape, but it goes deeper with a mineralic edge making it quite gastronomic, especially with its mild grippy structure, tingly energy and depth. It's nice to see an expression of this grape which is not overly floral and more terroir-driven.

Expect notes of salted apricots, herbs like thyme, clementine peel, white pepper, mild savoury elements such as cheese rind (in a very nice way), green tea, aniseed. Very good. Decant for best results and serve in a decent glass.

Please note, our fancy new cart system will only recognise this as one product, but it will qualify for 3 bottles towards your shipping, at official checkout.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.
