Ucha Kochi 2023 is a 10.5% natural wine crafted by Vino Martville, in the western region in Georgia. This red wine is made with 40% Ojaleshi, 30% Orbeluri Ojaleshi and 30% Aladasturi 30%, aged in traditional Qvevri clay vessels buried in the ground for 1 month on full skins, destemmed, then transferred to stainless steel tanks for 6 months. Very minor sulphur additions for stability.

The meaning behind the name?

Ucha Kochi translates to "black man" in Megrelian. Ucha Kochi is a text from the Megrelian song "Gevshvat Ghvini," dedicated to wine drinking and its Megrelian customs. The label depicts the figure of Megrelian mythology, Ocho Kochi (Georgian: Ochopintre), the mythological forest god and the forest goddess Tkashmafa, swimming in the river.

We have not year tried this but hear good things with notes of fresh wild berries, cherry, herbs, floral, almonds coming together with a medium body, high acidity, soft mouthfeel, and a long finish.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.
