ΘRIAMVOS Thriamvos 2020 is a natural wine crafted by Kamara Pure, in the Macedonia region in Greece. This red wine is made with 40% Xinomavro, 20% Merlot and 40% Limnio grapes.

Kamara Pure Tasting notes: Intense ruby – red colour with purple highlights. In the nose, the fruit expression is impressive with berries, dogwoods, plums and liquorice combined with notes of eucalyptus, black olives and intense black pepper. In the mouth the impressive spicy taste of black and green pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg are complemented by earthy notes of fresh soil, and hints of dark chocolate. Velvety rounded tannins due to the 12 months ageing in old oak barrels.

History of this label: ΘRIAMVOS(Triumph) in ancient Greece was an hymn- a special dance to the god of wine and festivity, Dionysus. Dance was always an important component of civilization, which unites people and gives pleasure and joy. Wine does the same. Wine was always a component of Mediterranean civilization which gave joy to people. To this specific wine, there is a “dance” of three varieties, Xinomavro, Limnio and Merlot.

NATURAL WINES BY KAMARA PURE

Kamara Pure is the natural range of the Kioutsoukis family, farming 11 hectares on the Mygdonia slopes 30 km from Thessaloniki. The family came from Eastern Rumelia on the Black Sea in the early 1900s, and Dimitrios Kioutsoukis founded the winery in 2010. The vines sit at around 140 metres on an old seabed of clay, sand and schist, mostly Xinomavro, Assyrtiko and Malagousia.

Vines are hoed and picked by hand and treated with nettle and yarrow. Wines ferment with wild yeasts and age in old barriques or clay amphorae, and the Pure range gets no added sulphur. Start with Nimbus Albus, Assyrtiko and Malagousia, or Shadow Play White. Their Retsina uses a little Aleppo pine resin from Evia, and Keramos Amphora Red blends Xinomavro and Limnio.
