Pinot Noir 2019 by Andi Weigand is a natural wine made in Franken, Germany. This Pinot is aged in large wooden barrels for two years before released and features a slightly spicy note, with some forest fruit & cherry vibes.

NATURAL WINES BY ANDI WEIGAND

Andi Weigand works around 10 hectares in Iphofen, Franken, where the vines grow on heavy Keuper soils. He took over the winemaking from his father in 2015 and switched to natural winemaking in 2018, and the two now work side by side. The grapes are Franken classics, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Scheurebe and Riesling, plus Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and the family also runs a guesthouse.

Grapes are picked by hand and fermented wild, mostly in large used wooden barrels, and many wines are bottled without added sulphur. Qvevri is his other tool, still rare among young German winemakers: Amphora White is Bacchus and Müller-Thurgau with around nine months on the skins. MTH is Müller-Thurgau from 60-year-old vines, Skin is a Silvaner orange wine, and Forever Young is our own blend with Andi, only 600 bottles.
