Weiss 2023 by Glow Glow Wines (made by siblings Carl and Pauline Baumberger) is a vibrant and refreshing natural wine made in the small region of Nahe, Germany. Here grapes of Bacchus, Müller-Thurgau and Scheurebe grapes are blended together in perfect balance, giving off a lively and energetic, light German white wine with no added sulphites.
How does Glow Glow Weiss taste?
Glow Glow "Weiss 2023" is a seriously very tasty, fresh low alcohol white wine with classic German white wine notes. Expect lively bursts of lychee, meadow flowers, vanilla and a wet stone minerality. Beautiful, crisp and clean, with a little effervescent fizz. This is a very good, easy white wine!
Pauline and Carl Baumberger discuss Glow Glow Weiss 2022
The summer of 2022 was warm and dry, so we decided to press the grapes directly. No nighttime skin contact this year as acidity was already lower than previous years due to 2022 weather conditions. Two weeks before harvest we tasted the grapes and found a lack of juice and life. It started to rain heavily just in time; in one week it rained more than in the entire previous year. And the rain brought all the nutrients, flavors and life into the previously tiny berries.
Luckily the skins were strong and didn't burst, they absorbed all the good that came. Suddenly there was taste and energy. So what tastes like sunshine was harvested between heavy rains, with rainbows above our heads, and you can feel them in this wine: Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus & Scheurebe.
