Pet Nat Welsch is a natural wine crafted by Bidule, in the Moravia region in Czech Republic. This sparkling Pet Nat wine is made with Welschriesling grapes.

We have not yet tried this wine but the importer tells us this "The definition of charming! Super fresh nose with notes of citrus and elderflower. Mineral, juicy, fruity, with lovely fine bubbles and perfectly integrated acidity that uplifts and extends the whole flavour experience.

Having very little yeast, this wine is definitely a pet-nat you can bring even to pet-nat beginners or more conservative wine drinkers (they'll probably think it's a good Sekt"

NATURAL WINES BY BIDULE

Bidule is a Moravian project started in 2022 by three friends and led by natural winemaker Zdeněk Omasta. The name comes from the little plastic cup that collects the yeast in the neck of a sparkling wine bottle before disgorging, a good clue that bubbles are their main focus. They farm 7 hectares on loess soils around Velké Bílovice and Dolní Bojanovice in South Moravia, picked by hand and never irrigated.

Production is around 30,000 bottles a year, and they see the cellar more as a place to store wine than to shape it. They follow the Autentiste charter for Czech natural wine. On the sparkling side there are pét-nats, including the Bidule Pet Nat and the Pet Nat Welsch, and Tradition, a zero-dosage traditional method sparkling from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The still wines include Frankovka and a Sylvaner made in a deliberately oxidative style.
