Orange 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Abbazia San Giorgio, on the volcanic island of Pantelleria, close to Sicily in Italy. This orange wine is made with 100% Zibibbo grapes, and is made by Battista Belvisi und Beppe Fontana, who also used to work for island superstar Gabrio Bini in the past.

This vibrant Zibibbo (known elsewhere as Mosctell or Muscat of Alexandria) sees skin contact maceration for 30 days, before being aged for 5 months partly in stainless steel and partly in chestnut barrels, with no SO2 additions (to our knowledge) .

It is an expressive and aromatic Zibibbo with tangy citrus rinds, herbal bitters, jasmine, vanilla elderflower, ripe peach. Floral and fruity, with good depth, gentle grip and a warm, textured finish with mild, integrated tannins. Finish in one sitting, as it will not hold the next day

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

abbazia San Giorgio

Abbazia San Giorgio

Abbazia San Giorgio was established in 2015 by Battista Belvisi, an agronomist and winemaker born on Pantelleria into a family with its own history of making wine. Battista spent roughly a decade working alongside Gabrio Bini as his main man, before deciding to establish a cellar under his own name. The estate began with 3.5 hectares near Khamma on the island's southeastern side and has since grown, making around 10,000 bottles a year.

The vineyards grow in dark volcanic soils under intense sun and constant wind. Zibibbo, the local name for Muscat of Alexandria, is the central grape. Many vines are old, and some remain ungrafted in the island's sandy volcanic terrain.
