Surlié

Surlié by Mirco Mariotti is a sparkling Pet Nat wine, made in Emilia-Romagna with Fortana grapes, which are taken from old vines aged between 50-70 years old. Think of this a little bit like a Lambrusco.

Production details of Surlié: Surlié comes from Mirco Mariotti in Emilia-Romagna and is made from Fortana grapes off old vines between 50 and 100 years old, rooted in very sandy soils. The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, pressed and macerated with their skins for around 10 days. The wine finishes fermentation in bottle for natural sparkle, with low alcohol and a touch of residual sugar.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Surlié by Mirco Mariotti, but we hear it has notes of red fruit, white pepper, minerality and a saline finish.
