Pinot Noir by Der Glücksjager is a red wine made in the Pfalz region of Germany with Pinot Noir grapes, which is known in German as Spätburgunder.

Production details of Pinot Noir (Der Glücksjäger): This Pinot Noir comes from Der Glücksjäger in the Pfalz region of Germany. The producer cultivates 30 hectares and bottles around 40,000 bottles per year across varieties including Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Weissburgunder, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, all farmed using a lunar-calendar approach. Sulphur kept at 30-40 mg/l. The Dalmatian dog on the label is their dog Anouk.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Pinot Noir by Der Glücksjäger, but we hear it has notes of red cherry, raspberry, light spice and a soft Pfalz Spätburgunder elegance.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

Der Gluecks Jaeger

NATURAL WINES BY DER GLÜCKSJÄGER

Der GlücksJäger is Andreas Pfaffmann-Wiedemann's small winery in Venningen in the Pfalz, founded in 2011 with a first vintage in 2012. It is based at the Doktorenhof, the family's wine vinegar estate, and started out on under 2 hectares, now around 4, with Riesling at its heart. The Dalmatian on every label is Anouk, their dog.

The wines are on the classic German side, but made with a lighter hand than most: hand-picked grapes, spontaneous fermentation until the wines are fully dry, then ageing only in wood, either traditional Halbstück casks or barriques, with minimal sulphur. That shows in bottles like the Grüner Veltliner Barrique and the Sauvignon Blanc Fumé. KnochenTrocken, which means bone dry, and the Junge Hunde Riesling are the easy starting points, and Glücksbrause is their pét-nat. Prices are very friendly for this kind of care.
