Tasting Notes for Domaine Houillon Gravières 2023 Natural Wine
Whilst we have not yet tried this exact vintage of Gravières 2023, we hear it has notes of crushed strawberries and redcurrant jelly on the nose, offering an inviting, fresh fruit character. The palate, dominated by Carignan, is light, fluid, and intensely fruity, with juicy red berry flavors that are bright and approachable.
Grenache contributes a subtle depth and weight, giving the wine balance and a smooth, easy-drinking texture that makes it thoroughly moreish. Overall, it is described as a vibrant, accessible natural wine with lively fruit and a charming, fresh finish.
About Domaine Houillon in Rhone
Aurélien Houillon, a native of Jura and another talented relative of Emmanuel Houillon of Maison Pierre Overnoy in Jura has also worked at the estate in addition to other places before settling down in Rhone to work alongside his partner Charlotte. The wines are zero-zero, as expected from the rest of the family legends, and offer a big energy and depth. They farm 2.5 hectares of vines
in Faucon, in the Vaucluse, on a total property (and accommodation facilities) of 9 hectares. They farm their vines exclusively by horse too!
