Krakhuna 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Vino Martville, in the Imereti region in Georgia. This orange wine is made with Krakhuna grapes a traditional white variety from western Georgia. This wine reflects the fresh, textured style typical for skin-contact wines from the Imereti region.

Straw-yellow in color, the nose shows notes of wet clay, mandarin peel and a touch of musky spice. On the palate the wine is very light, crisp and dry, with fresh acidity, subtle grainy tannins and a delicate saline minerality that carries through the finish.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

Martvilis Marani - Vino Martville

NATURAL WINES BY VINO MARTVILLE

Vino Martville, now also bottled as Martvilis Marani, was founded in 2012 by winemaker Zaza Gagua on the banks of the Tekhuri river near Martvili, in the Samegrelo region of western Georgia. Between the Caucasus and the Black Sea, the climate is humid and subtropical. They started with half a hectare and a few thousand bottles, and now farm around 4 hectares and buy some fruit from Imereti, Lechkhumi and Kakheti.

Everything ferments in qvevri, with sulphur only in small amounts when needed. The focus is western Georgian grapes like Tsolikouri, Krakhuna, Ojaleshi and Aladasturi, plus Kakhuri Mtsvane from the east. Tsolikouri comes in two styles: amber, which in 2021 had 30% of the grapes on skins for five months, and Tsolikouri No Skin. Martha is a blend of Aladasturi and Tsolikouri, and Ucha Kochi is a red from Aladasturi and Ojaleshi.
