Expect some tannic grip and a rustic feel to this one
Production details of Rosso (Samodia): Rosso is made by Jacopo Stigliano and Flavio Restani at Samodia in Valsamoggia, Emilia-Romagna. They work three hectares of picturesque old vineyards planted on limestone in the highest hills of Valsamoggia, up to 500 metres above sea level. The blend is 40% Barbera, 20% Sangiovese, 10% Negrettino, 20% Lambrusco Grasparossa and 10% Lambrusco Maestri. All grapes are harvested, fermented and aged together as a field blend in small qvevri amphorae and cement tanks. No added sulphur.
Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Rosso by Samodia, but we hear it has notes of ripe red cherry, dark berry, dried herb and a juicy field-blend lift.
