Convallaria by Kunoh Wines, is a Pinot Noir... that does not taste like a Pinot Noir?
We all tasted this and felt it has a different taste to expected. It’s a little vegetal and fresh, best with some time to open up a little.
66% whole bunches. 34% on skin.
Production details of Convallaria: Convallaria is a Pinot Noir made by Yuki Nakano at Kunoh Wines in Upper Moutere, Nelson, on the South Island of New Zealand. Yuki is a former sommelier from Kyoto's fine dining scene who now makes natural wine in three countries (New Zealand, Australia and Japan). The wine is 66% whole cluster and 34% on skin, with the majority crushed whole-bunch fermented on skins for 20 days. A small portion sees 5 days of carbonic maceration and another small portion 10 days on skins. Aged 9 months in old oak. No added sulphur.
Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Convallaria by Kunoh, but we hear it has notes of red cherry, light vegetal lift, gentle floral character and silky tannins.
We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.
