Jakot 2019 (500ml) ONE PER ORDER is a natural wine crafted by Radikon, in the Friuli region in Italy. This orange wine is made with Tocai grapes, which are macerated for 2/3 months on the skins before spending 3 years in barrel and then seeing a further 1-2 years aging in bottles, depending on the vintage.
Why is this Radikon wine called Jakot?
Well, interestingly this is because the Hungarians ruled that "Tokai" can only be used to describe their region and style of winemaking, so the Tokai Friuliano (aka Tokaj) grapes used in this wine are not allowed to be called this anymore. It was Stanko Radikon's wife Suzzane who had the idea to called it Jakot, which is Tokaj backwards. They also gave this idea and name to everyone in the region, which other producers use, such as Franco Terpin and Dario Princic.
A pioneer in skin-contact wines, Radikon is praised by natural wine lovers all over for their aging ability, wild flavours and incredible depth of flavour.
Based on the far right of Italy right by the Slovenian border, Radikon wines undergo skin-contact maceration for a number of months before being aged in both barrel and later bottle.
