Nino Barraco | Wines from Sicily

Nino Baracco is a talented natural wine producer omes from the Marsala region of western Sicily, and he even has some vineyards where the roots of the vines reach 5 metres to the sea. Whilst science cannot prove it, there is an unmistakable saltyness to some of his wines from these vineyards (such as the appropriately named Vignamare). His wines are serious, emotional and a perfect expression of the Marsala terroir, which sadly has gotten a bad reputation for cheap cooking wine but producers like Nino Baracco are pioneers in changing that perception.
