Christian Tschida is a cult natural wine producer from Burgenland, in Austria.
Known to be a perfectionist and somewhat reclusive in his privacy, Christian Tschida prefers to let the wines speak for themselves and has earned a loyal following across the world for his wines. He has most recently been seen showcasing with them with popular rapper Action Bronson. Popular bottles include his Himmel auf Erden range, Non-Tradition, Kapital and of course, his impressive Tschida Brutal Wine which is made from Pinot Noir, and in our opinion, has a similar foresty feel to that of a Burgundy red.

Laissez-Faire 2023
This white wine is made with Riesling grapes, which is not so common in the region!
One of Christian Tschida's most iconic wines, which is a surprise for all that try it. Laissez-Faire is a super saline (salty), mineralic and herbal riesling that will blow your socks off with its finesse, complexity and balance. So fresh, yet also a little creamy, like a Muscadet. It’s its non mineralic elements, expect pops of juniper and green apple hits.

Non-Tradition Weiss 2023
Non Tradition White 2023 is a somewhat flagship wine of Christian Tschida, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This white wine is made with 100% Grüner Veltliner grapes, but here Christian delivers a non-traditional approach to the winemaking, resulting in a Grüner Veltliner with attitude, yet also interesting aspects to it far from the world of the many conventional wines that come from the region - and of course here unfiltered and without any added sulphur.
THIS IS AN AWESOME WINE! Decant or carafe for 30 min for best results. Slightly effervescent on opening but not noticeable after 30 seconds. This exceptional, complex Grüner Veltliner reminds you a little or a Tscheppe Sauvignon on the nose, and alerts you to the complexity of what is to come. Vibrant acidity, meadow flowers, green apple, exceptional stoney minerality. Non-Tradition by Christian Tschida is a truly wonderful wine. It will age well too.
Besides being called Non-Tradition as the wine is not traditional of Grüner Veltliner, interestingly, Christian Tschida makes Non-Tradition Weiss from two different plots of Grüner Veltliner aged 40 years each- one from Limestone and the other from Schist soil, which gives extra complexity. Christian has quoted before that this is like 1+1=3.
Birdscape Pink 2023
This light red wine at 12% is made with mostly Blaufränkisch grapes, but this 2023 vintage sees an addition of Pinot Noir, and a beautiful new label design (do you see the birds?)
No added Sulphur in this lovely Austrian wine, which feels vibrant and alive, ideally best served chilled. This wine is a rosé in some ways, and a light red in many others.
Expect a slight smokey and flinty touch in this wine, alongside tart red berries, plums and herbs. It’s somewhat savoury, and you question if is a rosé or a red… we think it’s a red only from slight tannic appeal but it really is questionable, and asking Christian Tschida about this - it seems exactly what he wants you to think…. We love it!
Grown on slate and limestone soils to the west of Lake Neusiedel in the legendary Leithaberg region (which is one of the oldest known winegrowing sites in the world, actually, with some evidence pointing to vines being grown here from the 8th century BC!) Birdscape Pink is called Pink.. but acts a little more like a red.
The grapes for Birdscape Pink are carefully destemmed and crushed by feet before fermenting spontaneously, of course, in large, neutral wooden barrels for around a year.
