Trousseau
Trousseau is a red wine grape pretty much only grown in the Jura region of France, where it has been cultivated for centuries. The Jura region is known for its cool climate and limestone-rich soils, which provide the perfect conditions for Trousseau to thrive.
Trousseau grapes produce wines that are medium-bodied with a vibrant acidity and a beautiful ruby color. The flavors of Trousseau wines are often described as earthy, with notes of red berries, spices, and a hint of smokiness. The wine has a distinct character that sets it apart from other red varietals.
Popular Jura Natural Wine producers making excellent use of Trousseau include Tony Bornard, Domaine Overnoy, L'Octavin, Domaine de la Tournelle and Stephane Tissot.
