FRANZ WENINGER
The Weningers have been making wines since 1828, and Franz Weninger’s family was one of the few allowed to purchase some parcels in Hungary’s Sopron region, which is deemed to be the birthplace of Blaufränkisch (also known locally as Kékfrankos).
There are many expressions of Blaufränkisch in Franz Weninger’s portfolio, as he has so many different sites expressing such different terroir featuring soils of slate, chalk, limestone and more.
