Oniric Muscat Dins L'ou is a natural wine crafted by Entre Vinjes , in the Catalonia region in Spain. This orange wine is made with Muscat of Alexandria grapes, and is one of the more premium Entre Vinyes wines.
This Muscat Dins L'ou is full bodied with 9 months skin contact. It is aged in large concrete eggs after being harvesred from a single vineyard of Muscat in the Parc del Foix nature reserve in Castellet.
The freestanding vines were planted in 1947 on calcareous clay and located southwest facing at 450 m above sea level. Harvested by hand in 10 kg boxes.
Spontaneous fermentation in 700 liter clay eggs. The must is in contact with the skin for 9 months, but here the wine settles on top of the skin. This polymerizes and integrates the tannins and the must on top of the egg becomes clear. By tapping from the top, you get a clear golden elixir of a wine, of course without filtration.
The reason for the hole on the egg on the label is to show that the wine was only released when it was totally ready, and the winemaker explained to us this is like when a baby bird taps on the egg to crack open a hole. Most of the labels of this winery features birds (as they love them) so this is why, as well as being aged in an egg shaped vessel!
