B******A Riesling 2021

B******A  2021 Riesling is a natural wine crafted by Saltaren, in the Rheinhau region in Germany. This white wine from a Columbian Sommelier, Alex Saltaren Castro, who decided to make wine in Germany is made with 100% Riesling grapes, which comes from the winemakers youngest vineyard - literally in the shadow of the oldest church in the Rheingau: the St. Ägidius Basilica.

Hence the fitting baptismal name. However.. for trademark reasons, the wine is not allowed to be called this anymore...

The vines features calcareous clay with some mixed in gravel soils. Aging is in wooden barrels, although we are not sure if new or old.

We have not yet tried it, but hear from the importer this wine is initially smoky and compact, but with a little time the wine demonstrates its strength of character with delicate floral notes and grippy, ripe stone fruit. Gripping on the palate, the light-toned acidity remains taut and extends beautifully into the precise minerality.
