Albillo Lovamor is a natural wine crafted by Alfredo Maestro, in the Castilla-Léon region in Spain. This orange wine is made with Albillo grapes.

This wine uses grapes taken from 60-120 year old Albillo Mayor vines, which are grown on clay-limestone soils at 700 to 1000 meters elevation in the Ribera del Duero which is known for overly oaky and heavily extracted wines, full of chemiclas.

This is where Alfredo Maestro stands out, having used to have been a part of that culture, using non-native yeasts, acids and even colour enhancers to try to create a perfect Ribera del Duero wine back in the day, he had an awakening in the early 2000's when he questioned himself as an organic farmer, why should he use such techniques in the cellar. He started experimenting with making wine naturally and has not looked back since...

Tasting wise: On opening this is a little reductive and then opens up a little to reveal its orange tang and herbs

WHAT IS ORANGE WINE?

Orange wines are actually white wines, but with a different winemaking process - they’re made by fermenting the juice with the grape skins, which is mostly done with red wines, not white. This extra step adds tannins, flavor, and a unique color to the wine.
Because of the skin contact, orange wines tend to have more herbal, aromatic notes, and they can also have a bit of bitterness depending on the grape, how long the skins are left in contact with the juice, and the vessel used for maturation. Unlike most white wines, they can also feature tannins (which are formed from the skins, which white wines do not use). Orange wines are a style that brings out some really interesting flavors that many people adore for their unique properties, whether easy going or complex.
