Joé's Story

After university, Joé worked vintages in Australia, at Moss Wood and Turkey Flat, and in Spain and Italy. Those years convinced him to farm his own vines and work in a small winery, where he could have a hand in every bottle.

We adore these wines which are full of energy and vibrancy, much more so than others at the same price point we feel. We think Joé's reds will appeal to fans of L'Anglore. They have a certain lightness, but also complexity and depth.

Joé Chandellier Wines

Alluvions Rouge is Cinsaut and Syrah from deep sandy, alluvial soils, given a 10-day whole bunch maceration and six months in concrete. As Joé puts it, "The idea is to be between rosé and red."

Alluvions Blanc is mostly Viognier, with Cinsaut and Rolle, from young vines on clay and silt. The grapes are pressed straight away and the wine spends six months on its lees in concrete.

Trois Terres means "three soils": Syrah on red sandy clay and rolled pebbles, Grenache on sand over limestone, and Carignan and Aramon, planted together, on deep sandy alluvial soil. The vines are between 20 and 100 years old. It gets a 10-day whole bunch maceration, ten months in concrete, then seven months in bottle before release.

Costal is 100% Grenache from 35-year-old vines on sand and rolled pebbles. The current bottling brings two vintages together: 2023 aged 20 months in barrel, and 2024 aged 10 months in concrete.

The blends change from vintage to vintage, so check each wine's page for the one we have.

In the Vineyard and Cellar

The grapes are picked by hand into small baskets, and the ferments start on their own with wild yeasts. The wines are aged in concrete tanks or wooden barrels.

Sulphur is kept to a minimum and only added at bottling.

2023 was a hard year: a hailstorm wiped out nearly all of his grapes.

MOST WINE CLUBS ARE SHIT.

They give you crap wines that are often their stock not selling and have nothing to do with your wine style. We're gonna change that.
We've created a club with three tiers, that is actually curated and ideal for the type of wine drinker your are.

NATURAL WINES FROM LANGUEDOC

The Languedoc is a huge wine region in the south of France, running along the Mediterranean from the Rhône delta towards the Spanish border and up into the hills of the Hérault and Aude. Hot, dry summers and soils from limestone and schist to clay and sand suit Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre, alongside whites like Terret and Picpoul. Affordable land and fewer rules have made it a hotbed for natural wine. Natural wine producers include La Sorga, Axel Prüfer, Pèira Levada and La Grange Saint André.
