L'Aunis Étoilé 2021 is a natural wine crafted by Debout Bertin, in the Loire region in France. This beautiful and peppery red wine is made with 100% Pineau d'Aunis grapes,
Whilst we do like to write about the producers, we must admit there is not much information on the wines of Stéphanie Debout and Vincent Bertin, except for that for sure they are hot up-and-comers in the world of Loire natural wines.
Using a horse in the vineyards and focusing on just 4 grape varietals since their start in 2012, the couple farm 3 hectares of vines which are located amongst orchards, hedgerows and meadows in the Anjou region of the Loire.
Vines are aged between 25 and 90 years old and grapes are mostly crushed by feet, or their small vertical press.
No added sulphur go into thei wines and this Pineau d’Aunis really captured us with its delightfully peppery presence, forest fruits and slight vegetal, green touches that kept it vibrant and bouncing on the top of our palate, asking us for another sip after the last. The silky finish also got us thinking of getting out the cheeseboard… and soon the bottle was gone.
L'Aunis Étoilé 2021 is a wine we truly enjoyed. Vibrant, alive and full of energy.
