9Cento 2005

9Centro 2005 is a blend of Barbera and Croatina from Podere Il Santo, based in Lombardy.

Expect a long maceration, agricultural aspects, big tannins, big fruit and classic Italian vibes having seen some age now for 20 years...

Quite hard to find any information about this winery, other than it is run by Eugenio Barbieri, who originally came from an academic background but transitioned to viticulture, focusing on natural wines.

Production Details: 9Cento is a Barbera and Croatina blend from Emilia-Romagna. The wine undergoes 60 days of maceration on the skins. The Barbera is aged for 2 years in 500 to 750 litre oak barrels, whilst the Croatina component ages for 1 year in the same vessel sizes.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried the 2005 vintage of 9Cento by Il Santo, but we hear it has notes of dark cherry, plum, leather, spice, and subtle oak influence.
