Kamuri 2021

Sakmiela-Kamuri 2021 is a natural wine crafted by Dato's Wine, in the Guria region in Georgia. This orange wine is made with Sakmiela and Tetri Kamuri grapes.

Production details of Sakmiela-Kamuri: Sakmiela-Kamuri is made by brothers Davit "Dato" and Tariel Kobidze at Kobidze's Family Cellar, in the mountains of Guria in the village of Erketi. In 2015 Dato planted an experimental vineyard of 15 almost-extinct Gurian varieties, including Sakmiela and Kamuri. This is a 50/50 blend traditionally fermented and aged on skins in qvevri, spending one month on skins before racking to a clean qvevri for 6 months ageing.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Sakmiela-Kamuri by Dato's Wine, but we hear it has notes of amber tea, dried fruit, walnut and a savoury qvevri-driven character.
