Production details of Kapelle Chardonnay: Kapelle Chardonnay is an orange wine made by Daniel Kurrle and Frederike Schmidt at Kleines Gut, a 3-hectare estate in Uhlbach, a small valley east of Stuttgart in Württemberg. They took over in 2019 and left the local cooperative in 2020. Grapes are hand-picked, whole-cluster foot-mashed in open vats, and aged 12 to 18 months in old oak barrels. Gravity bottling, no added sulphur.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Kapelle Chardonnay by Kleines Gut, but we hear it has notes of bruised apricot, dried mango, herbs and a soft turmeric-like spice.
