Production details of Brutto Pet Nat: Brutto is a Catarratto Pet Nat from Aldo Viola, a fourth-generation natural winemaker in Alcamo, western Sicily. The Catarratto grows on the area's steep "Timpi Rossi" (Red Hills) on iron-rich sandy-clayey soils. Wild ferment, then macerates on its skins for 8 to 9 months. Crown-capped towards the end of initial fermentation for a second ferment in bottle. No additions whatsoever, no removal of lees, no added sulphur.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Brutto Pet Nat by Aldo Viola, but we hear it has notes of apricot, peach, honeysuckle, lemon, melon and toasty brioche with a flinty mineral lift.
