MORE Tasting Notes:

THIS WINE TASTES INSANE! INSAAAAANNE!!!! Smells like an old Riesling with it's petrol notes, but on the palate we found incredible notes of orange blossom, marzipan, unripe peach and cream. Utterly delicious!

-------------------------------------------

Fattoria al Fiore's Neco series (meaning cat, as well as being short for New Experiments and Cooperation) capture a variety of traditional hybrid and table grapes grown by farming friends. The wines are approachable and easy-drinking.

“Genchi” is a quaffable and contemplative orange wine made from a blend of Niagara fermented by maceration carbonique and Japanese hybrid Neo Muscat fermented on amphorae. A small part Rosario Bianco, also a Japanese hybrid, is added before blending.

It is juicy and refreshing with notes of nachi pears and peach ice tea, with super-fine tannins.

No added sulphites.

WHAT IS ORANGE WINE?

Orange wines are actually white wines, but with a different winemaking process - they’re made by fermenting the juice with the grape skins, which is mostly done with red wines, not white. This extra step adds tannins, flavor, and a unique color to the wine.
Because of the skin contact, orange wines tend to have more herbal, aromatic notes, and they can also have a bit of bitterness depending on the grape, how long the skins are left in contact with the juice, and the vessel used for maturation. Unlike most white wines, they can also feature tannins (which are formed from the skins, which white wines do not use). Orange wines are a style that brings out some really interesting flavors that many people adore for their unique properties, whether easy going or complex.
