WOW! Graue Freyheit is an absolute delight from Heinrich, who are another top producer based in the vibrant region of Burgenland Austria. Heinrich have a range of both affordable, fun wines and a more serious offering where they utilise a multitude of Amphora and other specialist aging vessels.

This Graue Freyheit is one of their most prized wines, and one our customers very much enjoy as much as well do. With a blend of 35% Weissburgunder, 30% Grauburgunder, 30% Chardonnay and 5% Neuburger grown on Slate and Limestone soils, this orange wine is both herbal and delicate.

We recommend to give it a decant for 20 minutes before enjoying as it needs a little air for the reduction to blow of and the flavours to find themselves, but then its an absolute delight!

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

WHAT IS ORANGE WINE?

Orange wines are actually white wines, but with a different winemaking process - they’re made by fermenting the juice with the grape skins, which is mostly done with red wines, not white. This extra step adds tannins, flavor, and a unique color to the wine.
Because of the skin contact, orange wines tend to have more herbal, aromatic notes, and they can also have a bit of bitterness depending on the grape, how long the skins are left in contact with the juice, and the vessel used for maturation. Unlike most white wines, they can also feature tannins (which are formed from the skins, which white wines do not use). Orange wines are a style that brings out some really interesting flavors that many people adore for their unique properties, whether easy going or complex.
