Pinot Blanc Beton 2024 is a natural wine crafted by Kamil Barczentewicz , in the Lublin region in Poland. This white wine is made with Pinot Blanc grapes harvested from the southwest-facing slope (130-180 m above sea level) on limestone-marl soils with sand elements. Fermentation and nine-month aging took place in a stainless-steel tank. The wine spent most of this time on gross lees. It is cool, with distinct aromas of green apples, pears, ripe lemon, and fresh lemon balm, with a chalky character and crisp acidity balanced by the sweetness of ripe fruit.

NATURAL WINES BY KAMIL BARCZENTEWICZ

Kamil Barczentewicz farms twelve hectares on a south-facing limestone hill in Poland, three kilometres from the Vistula river, which calms the tough climate. The vineyard sits in the village of Dobre, near Kazimierz Dolny in the south-east. Kamil studied oenology in Bordeaux, trained in Burgundy at Dijon and worked in Austria and Chile before planting here with his wife Ania in 2017. The first release was 2019.

He grows Chardonnay, Blaufränkisch, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir, and the Beton range is made in concrete. His custom concrete eggs were the first in Poland, and the Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc spend eight to ten months in them on their lees. All ferments are wild. The Pinot Noir ferments in wooden casks, and Dobre Modre is Blaufränkisch from a 0.6 hectare plot, the biggest planting of the grape in Poland. Proof that Poland can make seriously good natural wine.
