Patrice Béguet 'Go Together Red 2023' is a red wine from three corners of France, blended in Jura. Go Together Red is meant to be Patrice Béguet’s most immediately lovable wine, a cross-regional blend that manages to be both specific and incredibly easy to drink.
Patrice sources from trrusted producers he knows and trusts: 50% Gamay from the Loire, 40% Grenache from the Ventoux, and 10% Trousseau and Savagnin from his own Jura vineyards. Each variety brings something the others don’t have; the Gamay contributes freshness and a lively juiciness; the Grenache brings warmth and dark fruit; the Jura varieties add a savoury, earthy edge that anchors the whole blend. No sulphites added at any stage of production here and we hear it has a light, mild natural carbonation on some bottles.
We have not yet tried this wine but hear it is very juicy, very fresh, and very hard to put down. Bright red fruit, cherry, raspberry, with a warm rounded mid-palate from the Grenache and a flicker of Jura earthiness on the finish. A light natural spritz on some bottles adds to the liveliness apparently.
Patrice Béguet left a career as an IT consultant in Paris to return to Mesnay, near Arbois in the Jura, where he was born. He took the wine diploma at Beaune, and now farms around four hectares of Jura vines, Ploussard, Trousseau, Savagnin, and Chardonnay under the estate label Domaine Hughes Béguet. His ‘Big Bunch Theory’ négociant series sources fruit from producers across France, creating experimental cross-regional blends. Every label in the Big Bunch Theory range is painted by artist Aya Sato.
