Werlitsch - Sauvignon Blanc vom Opok is exactly that, 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Opok soils, which are fine-grained, calcareous marl and silt typically found in the steep Styrian vineyards.

This more entry-level Werlitsch wine is best with what we have decided to call “a Swirlitsch” - meaning it's ideal to decant and swirl in the glass to get at its best ;)

The previous vintage we had after a little breather really came alive with bursts of minerality, mild yellow pear, cucumber and soft citrus touches. Lovely stuff!

Whilst we haven't tried the 2024 vintage of the Sauvignon Blanc yet, we hear it presents a crisp and herbal nose, gooseberry, lime and biscuity notes, ; you will find a pleasant acidity and creaminess on the palate, with a long finish.

Brigitte and Ewald Tscheppe from Werlitsch, together with Styrian wine producers Taus, Tscheppe, Muster and Strohmeier, belong to the ‘Schmecke das Leben’ (‘Taste life’) group. 
Their philosophy is about protecting the land, and making authentic and expressive natural wines that stay honest to their roots. It’s an invitation to slow down, share a glass, and truly enjoy the moment!
