Borgogna Rivate: Piedmonte Classics
In the vineyards of Borgona Rivate, grass is allowed to grow between the vineyard rows, with close attention paid to soil and vine condition. In the cellar, decisions are shaped around the individual grape and parcel rather than a single house recipe, helping preserve the differences between sites and varieties. There is for sure a more classic approach to natural wine here, so expect elegance, finesse and a more classic mouthfeel with the use of SO2 additions, but still low amounts and on the natural wine definition most subscribe to.
Borgogno Rivata combines an agricultural family background with a contemporary outlook on Piedmont. The mixed-farm setting is important to that identity, with vines forming only one part of a wider landscape of cereals, orchards and hazelnut trees. Its small production moves from fresh Arneis and supple Barbera to more structured Nebbiolo and Barolo, with the contrast between Langhe and Roero running throughout the range and giving the estate two closely linked but clearly different vineyard identities.
