JEAN FOILLARD | Beaujolais Wine

Jean Foillard is a natural wine icon from Beaujolais known for being an original member of the legendary 'gang of four', who are credited with pioneering natural wine in the 80's - refusing to chapitalise their wines with sugar like their neighbours and favouring chemical-free treatments in the vineyards and cellar. 

Foillard is perhaps most famous for his Morgon wines, in particular his "Cote du Py" - a highly sought after volcanic Gamay wine which is known to age gracefully. This Cote du Py plot in Morgon is an extinct volcanic hill with rich soils and very old vines, leading to less yields but more complexity and grace.

Jean Foillard is also known to produce more playful wines, such as his Beaujolais Nouveau.
