Hana

Fattoria al Fiore's Neco series (meaning cat, as well as being short for 'New Experiments and Cooperation') capture a variety of traditional hybrid and table grapes grown by farming friends. The wines are approachable and easy-drinking.

This vintage of Hana produced perfect-quality grapes, so the winemakers wanted to explore the full potential of the Steuben varietal by playing with different types of fermentation and ageing: one part maceration carbonique, one part direct-pressed blanc de noirs and one part fermented in barrels. After fermentation was completed, the wine was blended and aged on amphorae for three months.

Previous vintage we tried had floral notes of roses and hibiscus tea meeting dark cherries and a deep umami character.

No sulphites added. This is not a pet nat and the current vintage has a cork, not a crown cap like the previous vintage photographed.
