Bertholdi by Gut Oggau comes from their oldest Blaufränkisch vines, which grow on lime and gravel soils in an approx. 60-year-old single vineyard of Gut Oggau. The berries are carefully pressed with a 200 year old wooden press, fermented spontaneously and matured for 2 years in used 500 litre barrels.
This is the most traditional and intensive expression of the wine family, a fully-grown, meaty-spicy Blaufränkisch with a convincing earthy calm & depth. Serious, complex and profound as befits a head of the family.
It was bottled unfiltered, unembellished and without any additional sulphur.
