The wines of CONTROCORRENTE
Preliminare is a sparkling rosé from Nerello Mascalese that completes fermentation in bottle, spends time on its lees and is later disgorged. Sulle Bucce combines Carricante, Catarratto, Grillo and Trebbiano, with each variety macerated separately before blending. The reds include the lighter Quasi Rosso and the more structured Boato della Terra. Together, these bottlings show how widely Nino works within the same group of local varieties rather than repeating one formula.
Controcorrente is small in scale but broad in expression. Nino uses familiar Etna grapes without forcing them into one narrow style, producing energetic, precise wines shaped by family vineyards and his own interpretation of the volcano's northern slopes.
