Roca Viva Wines
Roca Viva Wines was born as a dream cherished by David Raya Moreno, a Sommelier with extensive experience in various establishments, moved by the illusion of recovering and regenerating exceptional vineyards in the beautiful land of Andalusia.
In 2021, on this winemaking journey committed to not using any added Sulphites and expressing the best of the Andalusia terroir, David found company in Peter Freislederer, a collaborator who shares the vision and joins the project to bring the winery to life.
The pair work with local growers in the regions of Granada, Córdoba, Málaga and Cádiz, often adapting the growers own ways of farming for more sustainable practices to focus on quality over quantity. Many of the vines are farmed on a diverse range of soils including Schist, Quartz, Sand, Marl and chalky Albariza. Some vines are 100m to the sea and others are over 100 years old!

Regenerative Agriculture in Andalusia
Roca Viva Wines choose the name because in Andalusia, the mountains are like big rocks that, unfortunately, have suffered the impact of human overuse, leaving behind inert soils. Their mission is focused on regenerative agriculture, seeking to bring these forgotten rocks back to life. This name not only reflects our commitment to the land, but is also echoed in the essence of our wines: chemical-free, living wines that capture the vitality and authenticity of the region. At Roca Viva Wines, the duo seek not only to produce exceptional wines, but also to revitalise the land that gives them life. What is most interesting, is how the duo work alongside their local producers and train them to farm in even more sustainable ways, and how to get the best from their grapes they have themselves learnt from decades travelling the world and talking with winemakers as well as being involved in the process. This means, that for their wines the focus is always on quality over quality, lower yields to ensure more quality in the grapes, different Humus techniques and soil approaches as well as shading ideas which their local farmers would not have previously known or employed without the Roca Viva project.
