Le Rayon' Chenin Blanc 2022 is a natural wine crafted by Thomas Puéchavy, in the Loire region in France. This white wine is made with Chenin Blanc grapes, and it tasted EXCEPTIONAL.
Here with one year in tank and one year in barrel , there is much more complexity than his other tank chenin, which is more about freshness. Here we LOVED the impressive flinty nose . The palate delivers wet stone, light grapefruit zest, lemon and super long finish. Very good!
Who is Thomas Puechavy?
Thomas Puéchavy is a talented French winemaker working in the Vouvray appellation of the Loire Valley. However, he is not allowed to class his wines as Vouvray because whilst his vineyards are located in the right place, his cellar is a few hundred metres outside the appellation zone. He doesn't mind, and favours the freedom of Vin de France anyway ;)
Producing just 8000 bottles over 3 hectares featuring Limestone rather than clay, the dominate grape he grows is of course Chenin Blanc, and he is very good at it! He makes wines both dry and off-dry (Demi Sec) as well as Pet Nats too!
