SRC: Volcanic Natural Wines from Etna
Vineyard work of SRC on Etna is carried out by hand and cellar intervention stays restrained. Fermentations start spontaneously, concrete is used for much of the production, and oak is reserved for selected wines. Individual parcels are frequently vinified separately so that differences between sites remain clear. This parcel-by-parcel approach is particularly valuable on Etna, where neighbouring vineyards can sit on lava formations of very different ages.
Cinzia, an artist, designed the distinctive labels. A flowing band of colour suggests a river of lava between two female profiles, presenting Etna as a protective and generous mother. The image suits SRC well: a family project built around old vines, volcanic landscapes and the varied character of Etna's northern slope.
Try the Etna Bianco for a nice, white approach with a volcanic edge. Probably our favourite wine of SRC. The Rosé is a wild one for adventerous types, armed with some funk!
