Susucaru Rosso 2022

Susucaru 2022 is a very popular natural wine crafted by Frank Cornelissen, on Mount Etna volcano in the Sicily region in Italy. This light red wine is made with Nerello Mascalese grapes, as well as Nerello Capuccio, Minnella Nera, Alicante Bouschet and Minella Bianca

Susucaru, partly made popular by rapper Action Bronson, is made in a way that is bright, light and slightly tart with a red cherry, wet stone and earthy tones. More recent vintages like this are a little synthetc in taste with a reductive profile and some cleaner mouthfeel aspects than previous vintages.

Unlike Frank's more tannic, cru wines like Munjebel range and Magma, Susucaru has a 'mega-gluggable' profile that's difficult not to love on a summer afternoon. Prices have been increasing on this wine year on year, but its popularity remains. Whether it is the same loveable wine for everyone is to be decided by those who try it. Many may claim it is not the same style as before.
