La RuraL Wines & Winemaking
Stainless steel is the principal vessel across the range of La RuraL, although selected cuvées also spend time in barrel. The brothers avoid cellar additions, including sulphur / SO2, relying instead on careful grape growing and attentive handling. Their approach keeps the route from vineyard to finished bottle direct and deliberately simple. The combination of estate-grown fruit, short macerations and mostly steel ageing also gives the range a consistent sense of freshness even as individual cuvées differ.
La RuraL's name points to the brothers' attachment to rural life and the landscape of Alt Camp. It also honours their mother, who cared for the vineyards before they took over. Through the project, Andreu and Xavi continue the family's agricultural history while giving it a distinct new direction.
As for the profile of the wines, some can be a little on the wild side, so expect an adventure. Our favourite is the Moscatell, which is a white that offers a delightful aromatic bouquet and floral presence in the way the grape should, all at a wonderful pricepoint too!
